On October 16, 2022, David Allen Durham, father of three, passed away unexpectedly. He was 73. He is survived by his three children, Jeffrey David Durham, Melissa Kay Clements, and Sarah Elizabeth Woodmansee; his sisters, Deborah Lough and Rebecca Durham-Frederick and his step-mother, Mrs. Cathleen Durham.
He was born to Mrs. Rose and Dr. Richard Durham in Elmhurst, IL, on June 28, 1949, but raised in Manila, Philippines and attended Faith Academy. He came back to the USA and gained his BA in Vocal Music from Cedarville University in 1971, as well as a Masters of Education from Ball State in Muncie, IN thereafter. He married Carol Edith Stacey August 7, 1971, and had 2 children and 17 years of marriage together. They divorced, and he later married Elizabeth Williamson from fall of 1995 to summer of 1997.
He was a teacher and a salesman, had a contagious laugh and a fabulously loud whistle. One could often hear him talking politics or see him heading to the nearest sporting event. He could play "Flight of the Bumblebee" on the piano like it was his only profession, and he loved jazz and choir music. He was a county tennis champ in his younger years and passed on his athletic and musical talents to his children. His favorite indulgences were Filipino food and pecan pie, not necessarily together.
A memorial service will be held, for anyone who would like to attend, on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 4:00pm at Grace Baptist Church, Moffet Hall. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able to instead send donations to www.A21.org in his name, an organization which rescues trafficked children and adults and which assists them to jobs and freedom.
