David Lee Cox, age 70, of Sidney, passed away on Monday, October 23rd 2023. He was born on May 31st, 1953 in Dayton, OH to the late Theodore Ralph and Selma Alice Cox (Potts.)
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Denise Cox; son, David Lee Cox II; grandson, Ryan Lee Elmore, and sisters Lora Mae Carl and Teddie Juanita Brown.
He is survived by his daughter, Tara Elmore (Brent); grandchildren, Nathan, Reagan, and Suzanne Elmore; sisters, Martha Jane Boocher (the late Jim) and Wanda Gayle Woody (Larry); and many other family and friends.
After graduating from Wayne High School in 1971, Dave joined the Army earning the rank of SP4 before he was honorably discharged. While serving, he married Cheryl and together welcomed David into the world. After the military, he obtained his Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering. While earning his degree, Dave and Cheryl were blessed with Tara. He soon began a 40 year career as a Biomedical Equipment Technician. He enjoyed his job and the people he worked with. He spent 12 years as a Springboro Jaycee, including 1 year as President, serving needy families and his community. Dave loved Rock and Roll music, fishing, golfing, and Western movies. He was a passionate supporter of Veterans, especially those who served in Vietnam. Dave was a cherished Dad, and the best Pops to his grandbabies.
A truly generous man, Dave will be greatly missed by his family. We won't cry because he's gone, we're happy he was here.

A visitation will be held from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, where his funeral service will begin at 1:30pm. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Cheryl.
Dave's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
