David Andrew Collins, 49, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 27, 2022.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 23, 1972 to John and Kathleen Collins. Graduating from Twinsburg High School in 1991, David joined the Air Force and served for 7 years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Although, eventually settling in the Dayton area, David remained a dire Cleveland sports fan through all their ups and downs over his lifetime. And always dawning a jersey along with his beloved Cleveland Browns bucket hat every Sunday. He was always most fond of his days as a baseball coach for his two sons during their grade school years and talked about that time often. Along with his love of sports, he loved his dogs and always seemed to have one by his side whether he was running errands or taking a stroll with his boys to his favorite spot, Beavertown Cemetery. David never met a stranger and tried to be a friend to all. He loved his family, pets and his country.
David is survived by his two sons, Mason and Preston Collins; his mother, Kathleen Collins; step-mother, Maureen Collins; sister, Tina Wesser (Jerry); niece, Ashley Ruzicka; nephew, Joe Ruzicka; great-nephew, A.J.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, a multitude of friends, and of course his love and side kick, Daisy the Dog.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, John J Collins; grandmother, Genevieve Green; grandmother, Dorothy Botz; grandfather, John Collins; grandfather, Rudy Botz; grandmother, Clara O'Connor; grandfather, Mickey O'Connor.
There will be a graveside service with honors at the Dayton National Cemetery on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 2 p.m., followed by a celebration of life at the VFW, West Carrollton, at 3 p.m.
