David Blackwell

David Blackwell, Jr., age 73 of Trotwood, passed away December 11, 2013. He was born February 20, 1940 in Portsmouth, VA to David Blackwell, Sr. and the late Rosalee Blackwell. In addition to his mother, David was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. Blackwell; and sister, Drenette Woodson.

In addition to his father, David is survived by his children: Crystal (Anthony) Roberts, Chelsea Blackwell, Jerome Blackwell, Yolanda Avery, Laren (Corey) Lawson and Kimberly (Brian) Smith; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers: Marvin (Diana) Blackwell and William (Maggie) Blackwell; sisters: Louise (Rufus) Banks, Althea (Vaughn) Bond and Cynthia (Evans) Thorne; brother-in-law, Alfonso Woodson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 16, 2013 at The Potter's House Dayton, 2050 Germantown Street, Dayton, Ohio 45417, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 am. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David's name to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road.
