David Joseph Berner Sr.

David J. Berner Sr., age 83, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Thursday June 6, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1941 to the late Joseph and Flora Berner. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda K. Berner and his brother Stephen Berner. David Sr., is survived by his children Crystal R. (David) Ritz, David J. (Valerie) Berner Jr., Belinda M. (Jon) Requarth and sister in law Carol Berner. He also leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren Amber Morrow, Kelli-Jo (Chris) Moore, Joshua Requarth and Briana Requarth as well as his nephew James (Amy) Berner.

David loved his pets Kiwi, Zoie and Lady Pearl.

David graduated from Chaminade in 1959. He joined the United States Air Force Reserve in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was assigned to the Clinton County Air Force Base in Ohio and his MOS; aka his role in the USAF; was Airport Fire Protection Specialist.

David started working for Dayton Power and Light in 1959 and he retired after 52 years in October 2011.

He had a passion for pocket knives, pencils, and pens. He was known to swipe them from time to time from the family doctor's office. He loved meeting up with his friends to have meals at the Hasty Tasty Pancake House.

Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Saturday June 29, 2024 at 1:00 pm with memorial service to follow at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made in David's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
