David Bartok, 75, of Dayton, OH, formerly from North Huntingdon, PA, passed away at 12:46 pm on August 14th, 2022, surrounded by several of his family members providing love and prayers. His last words were "I Love You More". He passed away in The Laurels of Huber Heights Care Facility due to a long battle with vascular dementia.
Dave was born on December 15, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA, and adopted by the late Stephen and Mary Bartok of Adamsburg, PA. He grew up with his sister, Mary Jane (Vincent) Steban of Greensburg, PA. While attending Hempfield High School, he met Lillian Besterci. They fell in love and got married in 1967, and affectionately began calling her "Wifey". They had started a family and had five children, which he called either by name or by assigned number; #1 daughter, Tina Bartok (Jeff Phelps) of Vevay, IN., #2 daughter Julie (Eric) Pauliknois, #3 daughter Susan (Charles) Parker of Medford, NJ, #1 Son, David Michael Bartok of North Huntingdon, PA and #4 daughter/#5 kid, Lilly (Jake) Scott of Wilmington, OH. He knew the names of all 10 grandchildren (Ronnie, Harli, Shane, Jessie, Christa, Rachel, Kaylynn, Carter, Chuckie, and Chloe) and 9 great-grandchildren (Christopher, Skyla, Maddox, Maverick, Anna, Jameson, Conner, Jonathan, and Rusty).
Dave's sense of humor was with him until the end. He was a family man and a best friend to all. He was a man with a deep Catholic faith involved in the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed singing in the choir at church. He loved playing polkas on his accordion and dancing. He was always holding babies and making silly faces. He enjoyed sitting around with friends, drinking coffee, and reminiscing about old times. He LOVED his peanut butter and chocolate ice cream. He enjoyed landscaping and was a hard worker. He favored his Hawaiian shirts, and biking with his family. You couldn't miss him when he walked into the room, just full of life. He will be dearly missed by his wife, family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. There will be a Roman Catholic Mass at Mary, Help of Christians, 954 N Maple Ave, Fairborn (meet at church) on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 10:00am. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
