David A. Ball, age 89 of Englewood, departed this life into the arms of Jesus on August 10, 2014. He was born April 15, 1925 in Youngs Creek, KY to the late John and Linda Ball. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Ball; brothers: William Ball, Everett Leon Ball and Ed Ball; and sisters: Nevada Lanham, Eva Freeman and Irene Strunk.
Dave is survived by children: Jerry Ball, Shirley Allison, Linda Pelton and James Ball. Dave assumed the role of father to granddaughter, Amy Kilbarger. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, all of whom Dave loved tremendously; sisters: Verdie (CD) Thomas and Faye (Darrell) Skinner; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII, where he earned 3 Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He retired after more than 25 years of service from the City of Dayton. Dave loved spending time with his family, enjoyed hunting, farming and took great pride in caring for his home and yard.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday. Pastor Tim Hamilton officiating. Burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery, Brookville.
