Whiting, Daryl Wayne was born to Wayne and Beulah Whiting on April 2, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MI and died on June 5, 2010. He married Geneva Kruis on Sept. 1, 1950 and is father to three sons, Jeffrey, Gary, Gregory, and one daughter, Mary. He has 11 grandchildren.
Daryl's life was transformed by God's gift of saving Grace through his Savior, Jesus Christ. His only comfort in life and death was that he was not his own, but belonged, body and soul, in life and in death, to his faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He was especially comforted that God watches over him in such a way that not a hair fell from his head outside the will of his Father in heaven. He gave all glory to Him as he lived his life as a loving husband, father, grandfather – and banjo player!
In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made in Daryl's name to the following groups: Dayton Gospel Mission, P.O. Box 1141, Dayton, OH 45401 (www.gmission.org) and American Banjo Museum (Eddie Peabody focus) 9 E. Sheridan Ave., Oklahoma City, OK, 73104 (www.americanbanjomuseum.com).
Public memorial service will be Saturday, June 12, 3pm at South Dayton Presbyterian Church, 1180 E. Alex Bell Rd, Centerville.
