Darwin Chivers

Darwin Chivers, age 88, passed away on March 31, 2023 in Beavercreek Ohio after fighting cancer.
Darwin was born on July 21, 1934 in Scranton Pennsylvania. He left high school at 17 to join the Navy and served on several ships during the Korean War.
After leaving the Navy he moved with his new bride Margaret Ann (Peggy) to Hoboken New Jersey where he worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad as a Fireman and an Engineer. In 1962 Darwin moved to Cliffwood Beach New Jersey and worked in the maintenance department of Exide Technologies in Clark New Jersey. After the plant closed, Darwin worked for the Old Bridge NJ Municipal Utilities Authority in the maintenance department.
In 2018 Darwin moved to Hubert North Carolina to be close to his son John and daughter-in-law Annie. While living there he attended the Bear Creek Baptist Church until moving to Beavercreek Ohio in December of 2022.
Darwin is predeceased by his wife Margaret Ann Chivers, his sons David and Mark, his sister Linda Santos, and his brother William Chivers. He is survived by his two brothers Bob and Richard Chivers, his sons Darwin J. Chivers of Beavercreek Ohio and John T. Chivers of Hubert North Carolina, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A private funeral will be held at a later date with family members in Scranton Pennsylvania.
