Darnell "Daray Lorez" Hunter, age 42, of Dayton, passed away on December 2, 2020. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, on May 13, 1978, the son of the late James C. Abney and Rita Hunter.
He is survived by his beloved husband, Josh Gibson; mother, Rita Hunter; sons, Ra'Shon Jennings and Talyn Aldridge; grandchildren, Jade Aldridge, Lucas Aldridge, Sean Akemon, Jr. and Paislee Akemon; brothers, Deon Hunter and Richard Henderson; sisters, Desiree Hunter and Rosalind Jennings; his beloved dog, Baxter; and also the LGBTQ community and the Lorez Drag family.
Darnell worked for CareSource in Provider Services. He was the matriarch of the Lorez Drag family. Through this he has mentored and parented numerous members of the LGBTQ Community. He held multiple pageant titles and was known to help anyone who was in need. His support was instrumental in so many lives. Darnell had an inner strength that was unmatched. He was not only the "rock" for Josh, but also for many others he loved. In his free time, he enjoyed the time spent with his grandkids, traveling, and helping others, especially those in the Drag Community.
Due to the current COVID restrictions, a Celebration of Darnell's life will be held at a later date.
