Daphne "Renée" Davis, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2020 at Stone Springs of Vandalia.
She was born on April 3, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Moses Elvin Davis and Bessie Louise Jackson. A native Daytonian, she lived in New York City for over 30 years.
Renée was a member of All Angels Episcopal Church and later joined Time Square Church in New York City, where she led mission teams from both churches ministries. She worked for Bates Advertising Company as a team leader in commercial accounts, and was well respected among staff and clients.
She traveled to China and taught English briefly, as a second language. Renée was a writer of short stories, poems, inspirational thoughts and she contributed some of these writings to the women's ministry at her church.
She was a graduate of Patterson Cooperative High School and University of Dayton with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Renée had a passion for children that began her career in Early Childhood Education where she taught developmentally disabled children at ECIC - Early Childhood Intervention Center in Dayton.
It is with deep sorrow we celebrate the life of Renée, the brilliancy of her mind, kindness of her heart, her soft-spoken words, and giving spirit will deeply be missed. She is preceded in death by her sister Kathy Regina Davis, brothers Richard Calvin & Ronald Elvin Davis, Sr.
She leaves to cherish one sister Kimberly Conner, brother-in-law William "Tussel," Sr.; aunt, Mary Price; nieces Angela Michelle Conner of Troy, Ohio and Sandra Davis-Thomas of St. Charles, Missouri, nephews William Russell "TJ" Conner, Jr. and Ronald Elvin "Ronnie" Davis, Jr. of California, six great nieces, one great nephew, a host of cousins and other relatives, dear friends Donna Muslin and Elyse Rogers of New York City, and many other friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020, 12:30 pm at Newcomer North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, Ohio, 45420). Family will receive guests starting at 11:30 am.
Donations in Renée's memory are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
