Tech Sgt. Daniel L. Au, age 68, of Dayton, passed away on July 16, 2022 at Chillicothe, Ohio Veterans Administration Hospital. Dan was born on July 21, 1953, in Richland, OH to Robert and Monna (Young) Au.
Dan was a true patriot and honored his country by serving in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1993. He had many responsibilities during his career and when he retired he was an Air Transportation Supervisor overseeing the loading and unloading procedures of the C5's. Even after he retired, Dan would continue to travel to Wright-Patt every day. Up until the day he passed away, Dan's favorite colors were Red, White and Blue in honor of his country and flag. In addition to being a devout patriot, Dan was a man of faith and his God was the guiding light in his life. He was also an avid baseball fan and was a pitcher on all the teams he played with throughout his life.
Along with his parents, Dan is survived by his loving wife, Judi of Centerville; sons, Matt Au and Waylon Bennett; grandchildren, Xavier Au, Rachel Durante, Meghan Dominguez, Erin Bennett, Jacob Bennett and Justin Bennett; brothers, Tom and Al Au; sister, Marjorie Riggans; aunt, Marjorie McManis; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, Ohio. A celebration of Dan's life will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 pm with Pastor Doug Surber officiating. Dan will be buried at a later date at Dayton National Cemetery with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dan's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
