Daniel "Dan" P. Abbott, 58, of Kettering, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022. He was born December 30th, 1963, in Dayton, to James P. and Mary A. (Tomlin) Abbott.
Dan worked as a truck driver for over 40 years and enjoyed being on the road. He was known as Thumper to his fellow drivers. In August, he received his 25 year Safety Award. You could always find him in the garage working on cars with his best friend Don. Music was a huge part of his life, he played his harmonica with anyone and everyone. He always carried his harmonicas in his shirt pocket ready to play at any moment.
You can't express in words the way he made you feel when he played his harmonica. We will remember him for his huge heart, his honesty, love for everyone he knew, and giving the best hugs. He was a devoted son, father, and grandfather. He shared his love of music with his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Dan also had a great love for all creatures great and small. Over the years, he rescued many four-legged companions.
He was preceded in death by his father, James P. Abbott.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his children, Jamie (Philip) Caviness and Casey (Brittany) Abbott; grandchildren, Alexis, Archer, and Iris; mother, Mary Abbott; sister, Vickie (Keith) O'Day; and numerous extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to SICSA (sicsa.org), in Dan's memory.
