Damian Cecil Edward Smith

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Damian Cecil Edward Smith, a sweet and happy baby, who unexpectedly departed from this world on December 17, 2024, in Somerset, Kentucky. Born on August 9, 2024, in London, Kentucky, Damian brought boundless joy to all who knew him in his brief time on this earth.

Damian was cherished profoundly by his family. His parents, Cameron Smith and Brittney Martinez, adored him immensely, witnessing the delightful spark of his personality as he grew each day. He found happiness in simple pleasures, often smiling and laughing, filling his home with pure joy. Damian loved music and revealed his playful nature by exploring everything around him, often chewing on anything within reach, including his own hands and even his mother’s hair. He found comfort in the presence of his father, frequently delighting in sleeping on Cameron's chest, a peaceful bonding time that will be eternally treasured.

He shared a special bond with his brothers, Tanner, Colton, Mason, and Jasper. The love and laughter they built together enriched their lives and laid the foundation for cherished memories that will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family.

Damian was also surrounded by a loving extended family that included grandmothers Janell Pennington and Marcie Fox, as well as grandfathers Tommy Smith and Pedro (Brittany) Martinez. He was blessed to have great-grandparents Jackie and Steve Pennington, Pamela (Michael) Davis, and Wanda Martinez, who welcomed him with open arms into a close-knit family full of love. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members held him dear, sharing in the warmth of family gatherings and the joy that he brought into their lives.

The celebration of Damian’s short life will take place on December 27, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio. Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service honoring his memory from 11:00 AM.

Damian will be laid to rest next to his great-uncle, Timmy Pennington at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City, Ohio. 

In honor of Damian's love for his green alligator and dinosaur plushies, the family requests you wear green for his services. 

As we reflect on the bright light that Damian was, we are reminded of the love that surrounds him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
