Dale Edward Mills, age 89 of Xenia, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at Legacy Village. He was born November 17, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio the son of Russell Sr. and Ruth Mills.
Dale graduated from Wilbur Wright High School in 1953. After graduation, he worked as a Printer for McCalls, then Dayton Press for a combined 30 years and ultimately retired from Wilberforce University in May of 2012 after 20 years. He loved boating, canoeing and going fishing. Closest to his heart, was Black Lake in Michigan where he enjoyed seeing old friends.
Dale loved his family dearly. He was always there for them and willing to do anything for them. This extended beyond his wife and children, as he had a close relationship with his sister, Bert, and a special bond with his granddaughter, Tasha. He also held his friends close to his heart.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Williams and brother, Russell "Bud" Mills Jr.
Dale is survived by his wife of 68 years whom he loved dearly, Mavis; children, Patsy (David) Matthews, Steven (Barbara) Mills, Gregg (Lulyver) Mills and Craig Mills; grandchildren, Michael, Tasha (Cole), Justin, Tanya, Danny, Emily and Katie; great grandchild, Theodore; sister, whom he adored, Roberta "Bert" Terrell; sister-in-law, Marge Mills and many other loving family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Dale's honor. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind staff at Legacy Village for their care and accommodation in assisted living and wonderful staff at Hospice of Dayton for all of their love, care and support during these last months of Dale's life.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
