D. Jean King

January 30, 1939 — July 5, 2021

D. Jean King, age 82 of Vandalia, passed away July 5, 2021. Jean was born in Cascilla, MS to the late Jim and Bernadette Logan.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years, James L. King Jr. and sisters, Allie Smith and Vallie Gallop.

Jean will be remembered by her children: John (Linda) Embry, Jean (Randy) Penrod, James (Jenny) King III, David King, and Kathy (Greg) Dobis; grandchildren, Riley & Carson King, Cody & Sinda King, Joey (Julissa) Allen, Danny (Alison) Allen, Kyle (Corey) Dobis, and Jasmine Penrod; and many other family and friends.

Jean loved going on cruises and the occasional stop at a casino. Attending her grandchildrens' sporting events was her favorite activity.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 9:30am to 10:30am at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 10:30am. A burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
