Owens, Curtis "Tony" was born on December 2nd, 1935 at home in Cawood, Kentucky. He passed away unexpectedly on November 22nd, 2005 at Miami Valley Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Effie Owens. He is also survived by his three sons Jerry, Robert, and Alfred, his two daughter-in-laws Susan and Lori, his three grandchildren Jennifer, Tammy, and Zachary and his two great-grandchildren McKenzy and Kaylee . He is also survived by his many brothers, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. He graduated from high school at the Kentucky School of the Deaf in 1957. He was the captain of the football team for two years. He married his high school sweetheart on November 8th, 1958.
He retired from the Dayton Daily Newspaper after 35 years of service. He was a champion of many sports including bowling, fishing, golf, and softball. He was a member of the Dayton Deaf Club for 25 years and the treasurer for the Fraternal Association of the Deaf for 20 years. He had many friends in the talking and deaf communities. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road. Family will receive friends Sunday 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
