Crystal Robin Janning, (Robin), of Centerville, Ohio, passed away on March 23, 2025, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. A 1964 Graduate of St. Joseph Commercial High School in Dayton, Robin made a career of putting words, images, and ideas, first on paper, and later on the Internet, for many prominent scientific, technical, government and private organizations including Systems Research Laboratories, Reynolds and Reynolds, RSS Marketing, Episcopal Church Visual Arts and many others. A prolific and detail-oriented technical writer, her work was instrumental in documentation and instructional services for private, civilian, and military applications. In later years, she spent her time developing and nurturing a creative zeal and talent for abstract art and fine art photography. Her acrylic paintings and photographs have since been exhibited and enjoyed in many public and private venues. Her love of plants and flowers made her corner of the world just that much more beautiful. Her eternal spirit made a mark on all who knew and loved her.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Charles R. and Alta Hawkins of Terra Alta, West Virginia; and her sister, Virginia (Ken) Romie of Oakland, Maryland. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, William L. Janning of Centerville, Ohio; her sister, Carol (Rick) Wilson of Williamsport, Maryland; her brother, Robert (Toniete) Hawkins of Bumpus Mills, Tennessee; and daughter, Eujenia Renfroe of Denver, Colorado.
A private memorial service for close family and friends will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in her name, by visiting the link below.
