Craig Steven Vogel, 67 of Trotwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 10, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born February 5, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY.
Craig was a quiet and gentle man with the patience of a saint. After graduating from Saugerties Senior High School in 1973, he got his bachelor's degree in Computer Science from SUNY Brockport. He made his living as a computer programmer, working for NCR Corporation in Dayton for over 30 years. Craig had a strong love of helping others, carpentry, building computers for family and friends, and coming up with creative ways to solve any problem that came his way. He enjoyed spending time with family, making home improvements (and frequenting home improvement STORES), and naps in his favorite chair. Craig fought a long series of health challenges and faced them bravely, never giving up. Now he can rest, though he will be missed more than any words can express.
Craig is survived by his parents, Louis and Dorothy Vogel; beloved wife, Marie Vogel (nee Egan); children, Jason (Kristen Allen-Vogel) Vogel, Jennifer Vogel, and Jerica (William) Ly; sisters, Karen Rakowski and Pamela (Richard) Ozminkowski; brother, Robert (Mary Pat) Vogel; grandchildren, Bennett, Rylan, and Charles; brother-in-law, George (Paula) Egan; and sister-in-law, Rosie Egan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
Public visitation to be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton - Xenia Rd.) on Monday December 19, 2022 at 12:00 pm with service to follow at 1:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens.
