Cornell L Beach, 93, originally of Jamestown, NY, passed away Sep 27, 2015 at the Summit of Park Hills, Fairborn, OH. His loving wife of 57 years, Mary Anne, was by his side.
Cornell was born Jan 17, 1922, son of Ernest and Marit Beach. He earned a Bachelor at Washington and Jefferson College and a Master's at Wharton School of Finance/Commerce, University of PA. A WWII Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater from 1941 to 1946. During his military career, he attended Bethany College, Harvard, and Notre Dame where he received his commission. In 1948, Cornell was employed at the Jamestown Board of Education. He helped establish Jamestown Community College where he became the first business official. Later, he was employed as the Comptroller at Jamestown Malleable Iron, and then returned to school administration as the Business Officer at Pine Valley Central School, and later the Assistant Superintendent of Schools at Brasher Falls Central School.
Cornell retired in 1983 at which time he and his wife returned to Jamestown. Cornell is survived by his wife Mary Anne (Harper) Beach. They were married in 1958 and have three children - Michael (Julie) Beach, Framingham, MA, Janis (John) Torchia, Tucson, AZ, and Susan (Stanley) Moulton, Beavercreek, OH. He has 6 grandchildren: Sabrina Beach, Nichole and Brendon Langless, and Lance, Michael and Luke Moulton; and three great-grandchildren -Alexis Langless, and Zachary and Caleb Moulton. Cornell was pre-deceased by his sister Marion Smith.
Cornell was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. At age 21, he became a 3d degree Mason and was a 70+ year member of Mt. Moriah Lodge. At Jamestown Consistory, he became a 32d degree Mason holding the office of Most Wise Master.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, Oct 2, 2015 followed by a funeral service with Military Honors at 11:00 am. Cornell's family is grateful for the care provided by Hospice; memorials may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
