Cornelius Maxwell Sr, born September 30, 1946 in Fayetteville, TN, passed away March 6th, 2025 at his home.

Cornelius graduated from West End High School in 1964. He also attended Sinclair Community College. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, with tours in Vietnam and Northern Africa. He retired from Flowserve after 36 year of service as a machinist. He attended Porterfield Street Church of God in Townview, serving as a deacon for 15 years. He has been a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Dayton since 2002.

Cornelius was a devoted husband and father who loved to travel, especially cruising to beautiful Caribbean islands. He also loved music and Ohio State and Bengals football.

Cornelius is preceded in death by his parents, William Maxwell Sr. and Virginia Sue (Wilson) Maxwell; his siblings, Eula Mae Mayberry, William Maxwell Jr, and Benjamin Maxwell; and his sons, Cornelius Maxwell Jr. and Eric Eugene Maxwell.

Cornelius is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claudia Maxwell, who he cherished beyond words; his sister, Beulah Stanfield, of Philadelphia, PA; three children: a son, Allen Terrell (Tameka) Starks Sr. of Nashville, TN; his daughters, Sonya Cordelia (Fran) Landers of Whittaker, Michigan; and Erika Nichelle (William) Hardrick of Huber Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Rosalinda Franklin, Anitra Maxwell, Tashawn Starks, Allen Starks Jr, Micah Starks, Jarrod Hardrick, Jordan Hardrick, and Jaden Hardrick; seven great grandchildren, Amari Franklin, Jahseer Franklin, Azariah Franklin, Zaire Franklin, Isabella Starks, Karmen Starks and Tremell Starks.

Family will greet friends from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday March 15th, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church 3801 Fairbanks Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45402.

Services will be held Saturday March 15th, 2025, 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church, Pastor Marsettes Cunningham, officiating.

Burial at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W Third St, Dayton, Ohio 45428 Tuesday March 18th, 2025 at 9:00 AM
