Cordelia O. Carlton-Garland, a devoted mother and grandmother, age 68 of Trotwood, passed away June 19, 2019. She was born October 30, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe C. Manuel and Eler M. Stewart; grandson, Deliquanne, Sr.; and great-granddaughter, Nevaeh.
Cordelia is survived by her husband, Melvin Garland; children: Cynthia K. Simmons, Kenneth Bailey, Jr., Love Bailey, Jerrold Bailey, Geoffrey Hobson and Gregory Hobson; step-daughter, Melvina Gooden; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends, including devoted cousin and sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Wesson and cousin, Melody "Mel Mel" Amos.
Cordelia was also affectionately known as Dee. She spent many years pouring her life into others. She served as a Bus Driver for Dayton Public Schools for many years. Cordelia was a member of Rhema Lighthouse Christian Center, where she poured her heart and soul into keeping God's house immaculate. Cordelia enjoyed cooking, cleaning, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Rhema Lighthouse Christian Center, 3271 Glen Helen Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place at Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road.
