Cora Mayfield Henderson, 88, passed away May 17, 2015. She was born to Rev. Roscoe and Lida Mayfield on March 29, 1927. She grew up in Detroit, MI and Williamsburg, KY, where she met and married her husband, Lorenza in 1945. In 1949 they moved to Dayton, OH to raise their family.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lorenza; and their daughter, Charlotte; five sisters: Flora (Dillard) Runyon, Joie (J.A.) Cooper, and Dessie, Rachel and Loretta Mayfield; and brother-in-law, Norman Hall.
She is survived by her daughter, Lida King; son, Larry W. Henderson; 7 grandchildren: Elaine New, Jonathan (Beverly) King, Amanda King, Anthony, Kyle (Jodie) and Kevin Henderson and Kristyn Delk; 8 great-grandchildren: Taylor and Colton New, Madison King, Sydni Blatz, Lidia Harkins, Sophee, Lorelai and Ezra Henderson; loving sister, Sara Hall; special nieces and nephews: Shirley Fry, Ralph (Lois) Runyon, Linda (Wayne) Kaufman and James "Bob" Cooper; many other relatives and countless friends.
Cora attended First Baptist Church in West Carrollton. She was warm and welcoming to all she met and had an amazing gift to make each one feel like family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:30-2:30 pm. Funeral service and interment will take place in Williamsburg, KY on Thursday, May 21st.
