Constance Ruth "Connie" Eiffert
Passed away at SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City, Ohio Tuesday, April 12, 2011. She was born August 27, 1920 to the late William and Ethelena (Collier) Thomson of Dayton, Ohio.

Connie graduated from Fairview High School in 1938 and attended Bob Jones College for one year. In 1939 she returned to Dayton and worked for NCR until her marriage in 1942. She met William Eiffert in 1941 in the choir of Grace United Methodist Church, where they married April 26, 1942. They moved to Seattle, Washington, where Bill was stationed in the U.S. Public Health Service. They lived in various locations throughout Washington State until they returned to Dayton in 1948. They re-joined Grace Church and the choir where they continued to sing into the 1980's. She was active in the Women's Society of the church throughout her life. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter CV in Dayton. She was a summertime participant at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where she also sang in the choir while staying at their cottage near Pelican Lake, WI. She attended the PEO Sisterhood Chapter DR when in Rhinelander.

Connie is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 69 years, William Eiffert; two children, Marilyn Kathryn Riggs of Phoenix, Arizona and Robert Curt Eiffert of Alexandria, Virginia; two grandchildren, Todd Riggs and Christina Riggs, both of Phoenix; and three great grandsons in Phoenix.

She was preceded in death by one infant son, William, who died in 1944, and by her four siblings, Margaret "Peg" Kelly, Donald Thomson, Lois Shepardson and Barbara Spahr.

She will be remembered for her quick smile, hearty laugh and sense of humor, and her unfailing devotion to her husband and family.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at Grace United Methodist Church, 1001 Harvard Blvd, Dayton, Ohio 45406. Pastors Sherry Gale & Bryan Palmer-Smith will officiate. Contributions may be made in memory of Connie to the Grace UMC Memorial Fund at the above address.
