Constance Florence Benoit, age 92 of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday night, November 13, 2020 at Wickshire Assisted Living Community. She was born June 27, 1928 in Manchester, New Hampshire to the late Edward "Eddie" and Florence Toussaint.
Connie graduated from the Mount Saint Mary College Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1950. She was the President of her Class. She cared for people all her life. Connie was loved by so many because she loved so many, her lasting memory is a product of what she gave to life and how she lived an unselfish life engaged in the lives of her friends and her dear family. Connie often said that her joy for life was passed on to her from her father.
Connie was a volunteer at WPAFB at the Thrift Shop for 20 years. Every family member received a cherished "Thrift Shop gift" for birthdays and Christmas. Connie had a flair for the arts. She painted beautiful oils, brought new life to old forgotten furniture by refinishing it, and was an excellent seamstress. She made her own clothes and clothing for those she loved. She and her best friend, were passionate garage salers, always wanting a discount on a discount. Her latest passion was Cash Explosion scratch offs. She just knew she was going to be on the show and take the whole family with her.
Connie had her first child, Mary Jane, in 1952 while her husband was in Korea. She had her second child, Jeannie in1956, in West Virginia while her husband was in graduate school. Her son, Peter, born in Rome, Italy in 1965 was a happy accident. Connie was a caregiver who dedicated her life to taking care of her husband, children and others.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Florence Toussaint; and by her husband of 67 years, Donald Benoit.
Connie will be missed by her loving children, Mary Jane (Steve) Corcoran, Jean Mullen (Todd Mullen-deceased) and Peter Benoit; grandchildren, Jennifer Corcoran, Sherry Richards (Neil Strawser), Patrick Mullen, Francis Mullen, Todd Mullen, Bailey Benoit and Benjamin Benoit; great grandchildren, Ryan Helton, Alex Helton, Matthew Helton, Sophie Richards, Lily Strawser and Laini Strawser; sisters, Jeanne Cote, Janice Foye; and brother, Paul Toussaint.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Rd., Dayton, Fr. Anthony Cutcher, Celebrant. Burial will be held at a later date at the Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Connie's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer North Chapel. The state of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face masks be worn in all public places.
