McCormick, Colleen Copley, 48, of Huber Heights, passed peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, August 9, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 25, 1959 in Dayton, the daughter of Carlos & Myrtle Copley, who survive. She is also survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Robert; her children, Kelsey, 17, Riley, 15, and Connor, 13; her sisters, Karla (Dan) Evers of Indianapolis, and Robin (Jerry) VanAuken of Kokomo, Indiana; and over 40 extended family members. Colleen graduated from Dayton Christian High School and Anderson (Indiana) College. She was a fun, generous and thoughtful friend, maintaining close relationships across many miles and years. Colleen intentionally lived a life of purpose and influence. She was a most devoted mother, delighted to be home with her 3 children. She was a well-loved volunteer at their school (Titus Elementary) for over 10 years. In addition to her own 3, she enjoyed caring for several other children. Colleen was raised in Huber Heights Church of God, where she continued to serve in numerous ways. Her personal faith in Christ was the source of her generous and loving spirit. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, hospice workers, and beloved friends and family who have given special care over the last 2 years. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 16, at 6:00 PM at Huber Heights Church of God, 6900 Brandt Pike, 45424. The family will receive visitors afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the church for the children's educational funds.
