Chief Master Sergeant Robert Elwood Sandrus Jr., 74, passed away on June 24, 2023. Loving husband of Laura Sandrus for 54 years. Cherished father of Melissa (Jonathan) Sousa and Timothy (Christina) Sandrus Sr, adored grandfather of Amanda Martin, Ashley Martin, Abby Martin, Austin Martin, Josephine Sandrus, Timothy Sandrus Jr., Alexander Sandrus and Caitriona Sandrus and great grandfather of Carter Watson. Bob is also survived by his sisters Judy Mack and Pam (Steve) Meiser, He will also be missed by his fur baby Moose.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert Sr. and Ellie Sandrus as well as his critters Lady, Becky, Joanna and Lola.
Bob served as a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force performing air craft maintenance on B-52s. He enjoyed tinkering with model railroading, fishing, gardening, cooking, baking, traveling, music, movies, art and most of all eating turkey. He was a skilled woodworker that built most of the furniture in his home, this was something that was passed down to him from his father. He was Bob the builder and a very busy man. He was a child at heart.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the holidays. He shared the tradition of reading The Night Before Christmas with first his children, then grand children and great grandchild. He also had his eggnog which on occasion he would spike.
Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Monday July 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm with memorial celebration to follow at 4:00 pm. Please consider a donation in Bob's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate)
