Clemmons C. Harper, a life-defined by dedication and resilience, passed away on November 6, 2024, in Oakwood, Ohio. He was born on January 21, 1929, in Ray, Ohio. Clemmons is remembered as a quiet and friendly individual, known for his kindness, generosity, and remarkable independence.
Clemmons devoted a significant portion of his life to the CSX Railroad, where he worked diligently for 44 years before his retirement. Following his long and fruitful career, he continued to contribute to the rail industry by taking on a role at Buckingham Branch Railroad in Virginia.
His ambitions were not only limited to his career, as Clemmons also proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1952, during the Korean War. His bravery and service were recognized when he was awarded the Silver Star, a testament to his valor.
In his personal life, Clemmons found joy in simple pleasures. He cherished playing Bingo, exploring the outdoors with his camper, and spending quality time with his family and friends, who were the center of his world.
Clemmons was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ola; his first wife, Gaynel M. McDonald; his parents, Ross and Cora Harper; and his children, Robert, Pam, and Frank Harper. He also mourned the loss of his siblings, Harold Williams, Ruth Helen Harper, Elba Clinton Harper, Flora Mae Harper, Opal Marcile Harper, Donald Ray Harper, Ruby Leona Harper, and Mary Louise Harper.
He leaves behind a step-son, Doug as well as extended family members, Sheila, Melissa (Brian), David (Andrea), Amanda, Courtney, Morgan and Nathan who remains to honor his memory and carry forward the values Clemmons imparted throughout his life. The legacy of Clemmons C. Harper will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Family will receive guests from 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, where a funeral service with military honors will begin at 11:00 a.m.
