Clayton Edward Talley

June 12, 1943 — June 6, 2017

Clayton Edward Talley, 73, of Kettering, passed away on June 6, 2017 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in Carson City, Nevada, while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 12, 1943 to the late Virgil & Genevieve (Tucker) Talley of Junction City, Kansas.

Clayton worked for The Travelers Insurance Company for over 30 years as a Claims Appraiser. He had a life-long passion for aviation and was both a FAA multi-engine-rated aircraft mechanic and licensed private pilot.

Clayton was highly regarded for his skills and knowledge of aircraft restoration and avionics installation, as he designed and built one of the very first remote fireworks ground-to-air systems employed by night air show acts performed throughout North and Central America.

He also designed, fabricated, and installed mounting systems for various USAF Research Laboratory development projects, as well as radio, TV broadcast, and communications equipment for the Kettering Police Department and WHIO TV helicopters.

Clayton was a partner with Beaver Valley Aviation and served on the Greene County Airport Board of Directors.

He was also member of both the Greene County and Dayton Sport Parachute Club Competition Skydiving Teams.

Clayton is preceded in death by his loving Wife of 44 years, Margaret (Peggy). He is survived by his Son, Kevin (Teresa) Talley; Granddaughter, Avery Joëlle Paige Talley; loving companion, Jeannette Williams, and many dear relatives and life-long friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his Brother, Dennis Talley, of Topeka, Kansas.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 901 E. Stroop Rd in Kettering, Ohio.

Services will be held at Good Shepherd from 1:00 PM – 2:00PM, Pastor Tom Rutherford officiating; followed by a procession to Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Hospice of Dayton or Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center Merriner Cottages.
