Clayton Norrod, age 85 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 at home. He was born May 30, 1938 in Crossville, Tennessee to the late Harrison Lee and Mae Norrod. In addition to his parents, preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
Clayton is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Martha Norrod; two children, Belinda (Doug) Carter and Philip Norrod (Jessica Dussault); three grandchildren, Andrew Carter, Marissa Carter, and Matthew Norrod; two sisters, Earnestine Rodgers and Berta Burleson. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Clayton was devoted to his faith and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Franklin. He retired from General Motors "Inland Vandalia" in 1991. Clayton enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching, cutting wood, gardening, and spending quality time at his home on Norris Lake. The most important thing to Clayton was his family and making people laugh. He was quiet yet witty and loved telling one-line jokes. Clayton is well loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home-Kettering Chapel. Family will receive guests from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Clayton will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
