Clay Wayde Oney, Jr., age 87 of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
He was born April 9, 1936 in Perry County, Kentucky the oldest of 12 children, to the late Clay Wayde Oney, Sr. and Etta Mae (Conway) Oney. Wayde helped to raise his siblings and was a father figure to them. In the late 1950's Wayde moved to the Fairborn, Ohio area and worked in the service industry during the 1950s and 1960. Throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s he proudly owned and operated Oney's Moving and Hauling Co.
In addition to his parents, Wayde was preceded in death by his daughter Kim, and 7 siblings, Dreama, Thomas, Houston "Red Bird", Wilmer "Lee", Charlie, David and Darryl.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Freda Oney, along with their two daughters, Tracy (Nathaniel), Kelly (Walt) and son in-law Rex. Wayde and Freda had a wonderful life together which eventually evolved as they were blessed as grandparents to Cody (Katie), Amber, Sterling (Emily), Brooke (Justin), Jaymee (Jacob), Kirstyn, Ashton, Sydney, and Samantha. If being grandparents wasn't joyful enough for the two of them, they became Great Grandparents to 9. He is also survived by 4 siblings Janice, James, Carole, and Hubert "Tiny". and their families.
In his free time, Wayde enjoyed being outdoors, and fishing. He loved family cookouts and Softball games every Sunday after kids Sunday School. Wayde was known as a "Pool Shark" and made sure his skill and love of Poker became a family tradition.
Wayde lived a life full of laughter, light, and always being home before traffic and/or bad weather.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at Newcomer Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, Ohio.
