HATFIELD, Claude R., age 88, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008 at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by Margie Hatfield, his wife of 51 years, his daughter, Linda George, his parents, William and Ruby Hatfield, 2 sons-in-law, Charles Alcorn and Richard George, and 3 brothers, Robert, Carl, and Kelly Hatfield. He is survived by daughter, Vivian J. Alcorn and 3 sons, Claude L. Hatfield and wife, Debbie, Charles L. Hatfield and wife Marcia, and Robert L. Hatfield and wife Virginia, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Earl Hatfield, Albert Hatfield, and Charles Hatfield and his wife, Vonnie, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. He was a veteran of WWII, U. S. Army 5th Division, Medical Detachment – 21st Field Artillery Battalion - European Theater, with 7 ½ years of service. He was also a recipient of the bronze star medal, and good conduct medal. He retired in 1983 from Dayton Walther Corp. after 26 years of service and was a lifetime member of the United Steel Workers Union. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Pastor Debbie Holder officiating. Interment will be at David's Cemetery Mausoleum. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the funeral home.
