Clarence "Pops"William Cross

Clarence William Cross Sr. of Blanchester Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday July 2, 2022.

Clarence was born in Hayward, Wisconsin on May 9, 1938. While attending Central High School in Superior, he met his future wife he lovingly called "Jeannie" who attended his rival East High School.

Clarence was an avid golfer who loved spending time at the golf course and shared his love of golf with his family.

Clarence started his career in Minneapolis working for Red Owl, Kroger, and ultimately Super Valu. His career with Super Valu began as field representative near the Twin Cities. He was soon promoted to Market Analyst and then Retail Operations Manager.

This job required him to locate to divisions that were struggling where he helped turn them into efficient and effective operations. He was very successful in his job in several locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ohio.

After relocating to Ohio with Super Valu, Clarence and his wife Jean purchased a grocery store in Pleasant Hill, Ohio where he put his knowledge and expertise to work in their own store. Clarence and Jean purchased a number of grocery stores over the next several years and it became a family business.

After being in business for himself for 10 years, Clarence decided to move on in his career and worked for a number of regional and national grocery organizations, most notably K-Mart.

When Clarence finally retired in 2002, he was able to spend more time on the golf course with his sons and all of his golfing buddies.

Clarence and his wife Jean spent their winters in Arizona where they were able to do a lot of sight-seeing, hiking, attending musical events, and of course, playing lots of golf!

Clarence is survived by his wife Jean (Swanson) Cross and his 4 children:

Clarence (Jane Nock) Cross Jr.; Timothy (Brenda Hoffman) Cross; David (Lori Kendell) Cross; Mary Jean (David) Blink.

Clarence was also blessed with 10 grandchildren along with 21 great-grandchildren:

Jenny (Wesley) Napier; Hollie (Eric) Reed; Heidi (Keith) Wheatcraft; Bethany (Samuel) Howard; Gwendolyn (Patrick) Emerick; Braden (Olivia) Cross; Jordan (Romina) Cross; Benjamin (Krista) Cross; Alexander (Allison) Blink; Abigail (Leo Orth) Blink.

Funeral services will take place at Newcomer - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432 on Friday, July 8, 2022.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. with internment at the Silvercreek Cemetery in Jamestown, Ohio.
