Clarence H. Chapman, age 95, of Miamisburg, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 at Sycamore Hospital. He was born October 12, 1925 in Huntington, West Virginia the son of John and Margaret Chapman.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Barnes; father, John Chapman and brother, Earl Chapman.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Opal (Lee) Chapman; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. and Lisa Chapman; grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Chapman, Kathryn Chapman, Kelsey (Jon) Goodman and Elizabeth Chapman; great-grandchildren, Madeline Chapman, Eva Chapman, Nathaniel Chapman, Corryn Anderson and John Duke Goodman; sister, Betty South; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He enlisted in 1943 and he served in the European Theater and in the Pacific Theater aboard the Amphibious Assault Ship Betelgeuse AK-11. Clarence was wounded at the invasion of Okinawa. He also served in China and was honorably discharged in 1946. Clarence worked at McCall Corporation from 1947 until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Joel Getts officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post #165 in Miamisburg, Ohio.
