Clair David "Papa" Getz, age, 87, of Riverside, OH received his heavenly wings May 14, 2012.
He was born on July 12, 1924 to Arthur and Edna Getz in Mapleton Depot, PA.
Clair is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Betty; his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Evita Johnson of Dayton, OH; sister, Sarah Kyler of Mapleton Depot, PA; brother, Erman Getz of Mount Union, PA; and his favorite nephew, Charles (Bonnie) Getz of Mapleton Depot, PA.
Clair proudly served in WWII and Korea as crew chief in the P-51 Mustangs and retired from Roadway Express after 31 years in the profession as a truck driver. Clair was a deer hunter and loved sitting on the porch feeding the birds with countless bags of bread from the Hostess Shop.
A truly great man is going to be missed by those that love him.
A small farewell service will take place at the Woodland Chapel on Friday May 18, 2012 at 10am.
