In memory of Cindy L. Smith
August 3, 1961 - January 16, 2022

Cindy Smith, 60, of Beavercreek went home to be with her Lord after a month-long battle with a
non-Covid related illness on January, 16 2022.

Cindy Gillispie was born on August 3, 1961 in Dayton, the daughter of James and Loretta
(Short) Gillispie.

Cindy was creative and quirky. Employed for a time by the Greene County library, she loved to
read which was a joy she shared with her friends and family. Cindy loved the simple things in
life, a good cup of tea, pleasing colors and patterns, spring flowers, small birds and being
outdoors on a warm summer day. Her art work and craft work represented her passion. She
discovered Yoga as an adult and enjoyed it so much that she eventually taught it. Cindy was a
private person but those who knew her loved her style, wit and her empathizing heart. Cindy
cared for her aging father for many years, running errands in her famous copper colored
"toaster" car.

Cindy met Ned Smith, the love of her life, in 2007. They were married a few years later in a
private ceremony and the two enjoyed life together immensely until her passing.
Cindy loved the Lord Jesus, her husband, and her large extended family. She will be sorely
missed by her husband Ned, her father, James Gillispie, her mother-in-law La Fern Smith, and
her children, Carie (William) Smith, Jordan (Katie) Collier, Claire Measel, and Jade Nickell.
Her grandchildren, whom she adored, Skylar (Destiny) Shonkwiler, William Smith, Maggi Smith,
Levi Moore, Tristan Collier, Carson Collier, Cooper Collier, Millie Kate Collier, Christian Collier,
Kennedy Collier, Baby James, and Remington Nickell will all miss their Grammy. Her brother
Lee (Lisa) Gillispie, and his family, Hunter (Allie) and baby Hallie Gillispie, Emily (Ben) Foster,
Meida Gillispie and Brighton (Peebo) Gillispie will miss Cindy as a sister and their funny Aunt
Cindy who gave the best gifts. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law and friend who
introduced her to Ned ,Sherrie Ritz, and brother-in-law Brad Smith . There is also a large
extended family of Aunts, Uncles, and cousins in Kentucky who will miss her dearly. Cindy was
preceded in death by her mother, Loretta (Short) Gillispie and her father-in-law Charles Smith.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cox Arboretum, via this link.

will be memorized with a dedicated park bench in one of her favorite places amongst stately
trees, pretty flowers and chirping birds. Or if you prefer, read a good book.
