Chyong Jen Lam

May 28, 1949 — July 20, 2017

On Thursday evening, July 20 2017, at 7:31 p.m., Chyong Jen Lam (maiden name Yu) had her final heart beat and passed away at Miami Valley Hospital. Affectionately nicknamed "Jen," she fought bravely against her brain injury, but eventually succumbed and went home to be with the Lord. She was 68.
Chyong Jen was born in Calcutta (now known as Kolkata), India on May 28, 1949. She was born and raised by her mother (Yueh-Po Chao Kuan), her father (Hsu-Hsien Yu), and her stepfather, (Wai-Sang Kuan). Later in her childhood, her family moved to Taiwan with her brother and four sisters. On November 21, 1980, she married Kam Chi Lam. In one of her most proud moments (shortly after moving to the United States of America), Chyong Jen became a United States citizen on December 5, 1985. While living in New York City (Manhattan), she later had her one and only son, Danny Lam. Her family later would move to the great state of Ohio (Dayton area).
Chyong Jen was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her focus in life was all about serving and supporting those around her. This became even more evident when she accepted Jesus Christ into her life as her personal Lord and Savior. She enjoyed listening to others' stories and dispensing her wisdom. Her hobbies included traveling, photography, enjoying the outdoors, listening to her favorite varieties of music, and watching sports (especially when it came to the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Olympics). Those close to her always enjoyed her conversations that were filled with joy and laughter. In short, Chyong Jen cherished and made the most of every single day of her life given by God.
She was preceded in death by her mother Yueh-Po Chao Kuan, her father Hsu-Hsien Yu, and her stepfather Wai-Sang Kuan. She is survived by her treasured loved ones: brother (Shurow), sisters (Chyong Shiou, Chyong Fong, Chyong Huan, and Chyong Fei), her son (Danny), and also through her close friends.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel. Chyong Jen's urn will be placed in her niche at the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, right after her memorial service. While her health declined severely towards the end of her life, Chyong Jen was still extremely grateful for the endless amounts of prayers and support that she received. She firmly believed that every single one of those who assisted her is a blessing from the good Lord. Her memories and love will be carried on by those loved ones until the day they are all reunited in Paradise with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
