Christopher J. Kovacs, Sr.

September 11, 1960 — March 1, 2015

Christopher John Kovacs of Huber Heights, Ohio, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, following a sudden illness. He was 54 years old. Christopher was born at Ehrling Bergquist Hospital on Forbes AFB, Topeka, Kansas, to Capt. John and Judy Kovacs on September 11, 1960.

As a military brat growing up, he lived in Kansas, Massachusetts, Nebraska, and Ohio as well as overseas, including Turkey, Spain, and Germany. He graduated from Kaiserslautern High School in Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 1977. He later obtained an Associate's Degree in Management from Miami Jacobs Career College. He most recently worked as the bowling coach at Wayne High School. He coached football, bowling, and baseball for his son's teams in the past.

He is predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Orpha Showalter and Albert and Iva Kovacs.

He is survived by his wife Cindy, sons, Christopher John Jr. "CJ" Kovacs and Michael Kovacs, and their mother and former wife, Diane Kovacs; his parents, John and Judy Kovacs; his brother Kevin (Debbie) Kovacs; his sister Karyn (Colin) Morrow; and his grandchildren, Kayla, Christopher John III "Trey," Trenton, Kadence, and Peyton. He also has numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him. Christopher was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and movie trivia fan.

Christopher's visitation will occur on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church at 20 W. 1st Street in Dayton, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m.

Donations can be made to his sons or Youth USBC, in Christopher's memory.
