Christine Truesdale , "Chris" of Kettering, Ohio, formerly of Dalton, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 24, 1950 in Louellen, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Betty (Huskey) Fillmore.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Joe Truesdale; granddaughter, Kimberly Williams; parents, Robert and Betty Fillmore; and 3 brothers, Olan Fillmore, Estel Fillmore and Michael Fillmore.
She is survived by her daughter, Missie (Robert) Williams; sons, Walt (Sandy) Winhoven, Joey (Karen) Truesdale; daughter, Shanda Baker and several kids in Georgia who called her "Mom"; grandchildren, Ashley (Jon) Young, Robert (Caity) Williams, Sierra Baker, BJ Winhoven, Koleton Truesdale, Kylie Truesdale, Kamden Truesdale; great-grandchildren, Garrett and Kaylee Young, Nevaeh, Rowan and Abbi Williams, James, Josslynn and Zayden Baker, Bentley and Michael Baker. Chris is also survived by her sisters, Pam McTeer, Shirl Dryer, Peggy Harper, brother, Peanut Fillmore, sisters-in -law, Alice Truesdale, Norma Truesdale along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Chris started her career as a baker which she enjoyed throughout her life. She loved waitressing for many years at Farmer Jacks where she met her beloved husband Joe, and ended her career retiring from Shaw Carpet Factory in Dalton, GA. Chris loved her grandkids and great-grandkids very much and spent as much time as possible with them.
Family meant a lot to Chris. She loved the holidays because she knew everyone would be together. Chris loved getting her hair done every week with her favorite beautician. She loved traveling to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Chris was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed making holiday dresses for her granddaughters, Ashley and Sierra.
A favorite memory was a family trip on the Alabama train line and the Thomas the Train line with kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She enjoyed watching Kaylee in her frog recital. She also enjoyed watching Garrett and Koleton play several sports.
Chris was always willing to give a hand wherever she could. Her last wishes were for everyone to wear bright colors.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am at Newcomer Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439). Funeral service will begin at 9:00 am. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Joe, in Dayton National Cemetery.
