Fitzsimmons, Cheryl L., 71, of Kettering passed away June 30, 2017 after an extended illness.
She was born July 31, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to John Russell and Eva Charlotte (Townsend) Harshman. She retired from the Berry Company after 25 years, and also worked at Sears Hardware for 10 years.
Cheryl was a very active person and on the go all the time. She was spunky and was known as "a little firecracker" to her family. Cheryl was an outgoing and very strong willed woman. Family was the most important thing to Cheryl. She loved to spend time with her family and attend all family gatherings. She loved to read, especially books by James Patterson. Cheryl was a very thrifty shopper, which she enjoyed and loved a good bargain when she found one and always did. She loved her little dog, Toby, who was her loyal companion.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Harshman, and her sons, Kevin and John Butts. Cheryl is survived by her son, Mark (Vickie) Butts; daughter, Amanda (Dennis) Noyes; her grandchildren, Zachary Butts, Logan Butts, Samantha Snyder, Jonathan Butts, Cody Butts, Cooper Butts, Courtney Noyes ; great granddaughters, Abby Lord, Olivia Butts, and Allie Butts.
She is also survived by her father, John R. Harshman; sister, Pam Henderson; brothers, John (Vicki) Harshman, Doug (Shannon) Harshman, and Jeff Harshman; and several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:30pm Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., where funeral service will follow at 1:30pm. Cheryl will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery.
