Charles Henry Wilson

Charles Henry Wilson, age 74 of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at home, with his wife by his side. He was born November 23, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio the son of the late James Henry and Sara Lavada Wilson.

As a youth, Charles developed a passion for shooting pool at his father's pool hall. He also loved sports- especially football. He attended Xenia High School in Xenia, Ohio, where he ran track and was on the football team. His education continued at Progress Technical College and, later in life, at Ivy Tech University.

Charles worked at General Motors and Frigidaire but spent his professional career as a Mechanical Engineering Designer at Joyce/Dayton Corporation.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers James Oliver and James Harvey Wilson.

Charles is survived by his adoring wife, Sherlyn; sister, Sara Barton; children, Regina (Darrell) Abernathy, Candis Wilson, Charles Wilson II; bonus children Daryl Hughlett and Kelli (Brandon) Lambert; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, May 3, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Funeral Service will be held at Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Charles will be laid to rest at Cherry Grove Cemetery following the service.
