Charles W. Shealey, age 84, of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Charles was born in Notasulga (Macon County), Alabama on October 18, 1938 to the late Bertha & Stella Shealey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Shealey; daughter, Tonya Thomas; granddaughter, Shanice Bell; sisters, Floyd Gilmer, Annie P. Brooks, Lallage Moss and Mary Alice Holland; and brothers, Raymond Shealey and Bernard Shealey.
Charles graduated from Middletown High School Class of 1957. Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army where he attended South Eastern Signal Corp Training, where he became a Radio eletype Operator. He worked for the United States Post Office and Sorg Paper Company until his retirement. Charles served as a Deacon at the Christ Worldwide Church, in Dayton, Ohio for many years. He was very involved with his community outreach, helping others in any way he could.
Charles is survived by his children, Kelvin (Tabitha) Shealey, Natasha (Imaginary) Telfair and Nicole Shealey; several step-children; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Sadie Carr; and many other relatives and friends.
Deacon Charles will forever be remembered by his family and friends for his smile, his Afro and the joy he brought into so many lives.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Boulevard, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial and military honors will follow at 1:00 pm at Dayton National Cemetery.
