With the deepest sorrow we announce the loss of our beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother-in-law, Charles Michael "Chuck" Spitzer, age 64, who passed suddenly and unexpectedly on August 16, 2022. Mike was born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Spitzer on December 4, 1957, at the Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine. He attended Caribou High School, and resided in Maine for several years before relocating to Fairborn, Ohio. He was the second of five children and is survived by his mother Mrs. Aline (Cashman) Spitzer; his sisters; Mary (Spitzer) Archer, Joni Spitzer and Cheryl Spitzer; his life partner, Darlene Plante Levesque; his daughter, Kress Spitzer and his sons, Cory Spitzer and Aaron Covey. Mike also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, five beloved nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles William Spitzer and beloved brother Jeffrey "Jeff" Spitzer.
Mike was a status member of the Madawaska Maliseet First Nation and took pride in honoring his Native American heritage. He was as hardworking as he was lighthearted, and worked fifteen years at the Reiter Dairy. Those who knew Mike even just a little, have lost a shining light in their lives. Mike was fun-loving, good humored and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He loved hosting family gatherings, and his Halloween parties were legendary. Nothing was more important to him than sharing a laugh with those he loved. The outdoors were another passion of Mike's whether it was fishing, camping, hunting, or simply hiking through the woods.
Moreover, Mike's love was real and deeply felt. So his absence will leave a void that is real and deeply felt. He has touched us all with his huge generous heart. A country mile was no obstacle for him when it came to a person he held dear. It is rare to find someone with his kind of selfless love. No words can describe how deeply he will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a Wildlife Reserve of your choice in Mike's honor.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432).
