Charles Kenneth Simensen, "CK," age 73 of Dayton, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022 at Kettering Health Dayton. He was born July 4, 1949 in Fort Riley, Kansas and spent his childhood in Fredericksburg, VA, where he pushed the limits day and night on the Rappahannock River, and enjoyed his summers at Colonial Beach,VA.
CK is a veteran of the Vietnam War and later served as a law enforcement officer in various capacities. After 25 years as a city police officer, mounted patrol on horseback, and a prison guard at the Lebannon prison, he finished his career with the Butler County sheriff's department. On his return from the Vietnam War, CK attended and graduated from Virginia Tech University. He had many passions which included raising his girls, spending time with his horses, fishing, hunting, cruising in his 1929 Roadster, and the Virginia Tech Hokies. CK also loved sharing stories of his past with anyone that would listen.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 17 years, Cathy; children, Brandi Simensen, Casey Simensen, Ashley (Nick) Vicen, and Brandon (Katie) Marchek; siblings, John (Betty) Simensen, Jack (Mary) Simensen, Jim (Judy) Simensen, and Judy (Kurt) Hageman; as well as his beloved dog, Jazzy, and numerous grand-furbabies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Norman and Ina Mae Simensen; sister, Ina Fields; and cherished dogs, Monty and Stella, and his ever faithful horses, Smokey and Spanky.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Huber Heights Church of God (6900 Brandt Pike, Dayton, OH 45424).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of CK to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Loxahatchee Groves, FL.
