Charles S. Shepherd

Charles S. Shepherd, of Xenia, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

Survived by two daughters, Dixie and Tina; grandchildren, Scott (Carrie), Andrea (Stefan), Jeremy (Angel) and Paul (Allison); great-grandchildren, Alexa (Troy), Amara (Luke), Evan, Kade, A'Riah, Luka, Ares and Rayne; nephew, James (Butch); and several nieces and nephews as well. He also leaves behind his loving dogs, Benji, Charlie, Lukie and Ruby.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank, and mother, Kathleen; brothers, Roy, Leslie, James and Carl; sister, Irma and half sister, Reba; his wives, Betty J. and Alice B.; and his son, Larry.

He was a very proud WWII Army Veteran, serving in the Philippines under General Douglas MacAuthur. He worked at Kroehlers Furniture for thirty years and had his own shops in Bowersville, Cedarville, Jamestown and Xenia. Before he retired, he did work for Ethan Allen Furniture.

In his spare time, he loved fishing, was an avid bowler at Community Lanes in Xenia for many years and liked playing cards. Charles and his family went on a lot of family trips, all over Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, etc.

He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly, along with many good friends and neighbors.

No visitation, per his wishes. The family will have a graveside service at New Burlington Cemetery and a Celebration of Life at a later date, the family will notify everyone when decided.
