Charles S. "Chuck" Tache Jr, 71, of Tipp City, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital.
He was born on March 3, 1942 in Erie, PA to the late Charles Tache and Alyce (Kilborn) Tache.
He spent a career in the United States Air Force. While in the Electronic Security Command, he was a crew member for 12 years on RC135 reconnaissance aircraft as well as flying 174 combat missions on EC47's in Vietnam during 1968-1969. He also spent five years as an Air Force Recruiter in Erie, PA and another four years as a First Sergeant in Kunsan, Korea and Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, OH. After retiring from the Air Force he worked as a radio announcer for 20 years at WPTW in Piqua, OH, WQRP and WGNZ in Dayton, OH. He also attended Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH and Antioch University in Yellow Springs, OH.
For his service in Vietnam he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Additionally, he received the Meritorious Service Medal, 15 Air Medals, 2 Air Force Commendation Medals, along with numerous other awards and decorations during his Air Force career.
Chuck is survived by the love of his life, wife, Lois; his wonderful children, daughter, Teri Wynia and son-in-law Jeffrey in Lawrenceville, GA, son Charles III and daughter-in-law Natalie in Orangevale, CA; step children, Paula Steele in Durham, N.C. and Christine Price and son-in-law Clinton in Oakwood, OH.
Chuck is also survived by the best seven grandchildren in the world, Mitchell Williams in Duluth, GA and Brittany Carr in Lawrenceville, GA, Edwin, Simon, and Caleb Tache in Orangevale, CA, Wesley and Ella Price in Oakwood, OH, and one great granddaughter, Catherine Williams in Duluth, GA.
Chuck was also a long time member of Christian Life Center Church in Vandalia, OH.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH.
Visitation will also be held from 10AM -12 NOON, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Rd, Vandalia, OH, where funeral services will begin at 12 NOON Thursday, with Pastor Stan Tharp officiating.
