Charles Russell Hines

Charles Russell Hines, 7/10/1917-5/3/2009 Charles peacefully left this life in the presence of his loving family. He is survived by wife of nearly 68 years Lois J; son Jon Russell (Nancy), daughter Linda Sue Springer (Wayne), grandchildren Tonya Hines(Chris Adams), Kelly Holliman (Doug Miller), Tracy Miller (Mark), Carey Raines(Mike), Anthony Russell Springer (Suzy), and seven great grandchildren. Charles was employed by the Warner and Swasey Company for 47 years and was a consultant after retiring. He and Lois enjoyed traveling, gardening and working together on craft projects with the Dayton Mini Society. Time was a lifelong interest to Charles; he built, restored and maintained a variety of unusual clocks. Thru the years he was active in the Fairmont Presbyterian Church, volunteered at the Air Force Museum and worked for incorporation of Van Buren township into what is now the city of Kettering. Charles was a kind and gentle man, always willing to extend his hand to anyone. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the caregivers of Senior Independence at One Lincoln Park, who made the last months of his life comfortable. A celebration of Charles' life will be held at Fairmont Presbyterian Church (3705 Far Hills Ave, Kettering, OH 45429), Monday, May 11, 2009 at 11 am, with Rev. Denise Ingram officiating. Family will receive visitors prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the Fairmont Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Hospice of Dayton.
