Charles W. Pinney, age 82, of Dayton, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. He was born December 28, 1933 in Pyrmont, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. and Leona M. Pinney; loving wife, Geraldine B. Pinney; son, Douglas R. Pinney; grandson, John T. Stubbs, brothers-in-law, Ed Deatherage and Robert Hanshell.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War and retired after 32 years of service as a Dayton Police Officer. Charles was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #44, John W. Durst Lodge #716, A.A.S.R. Valley of Dayton and Antioch Shrine Dayton.
Charles is survived by children, Charles R. (Dayna) Pinney, Karen (John) Stubbs and James A. Pinney; sisters, Gayle E. Deatherage and Carol Kay Hanshell; grandchildren, Roger (Christa), Kristi (Sean), Jason, Brittany, Jacob, who he raised like a son and Dustin; great grandchildren Kaylee, Logan, Johnathon, Allan, Brian. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm with a Masonic service at 7:15 pm on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bellbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, Shriners Hospital for Children or F.O.P. 44 Memorial Fund.
