Charles William McKinley, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 30, 2012. He was born on January 19, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Edith McKinley; four brothers, Elmer, John, Harold, and Ronald; five sisters, Gladys, Faye, Eleanor, Louise, and Polly; and son, Mark.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Wilma; son, Steven and Linda McKinley, daughter, Cynthia and John Thomas, and son, Michael and LaDonna McKinley; grandchildren, Craig and Cara McKinley, Dawn and Jeremy Taylor, Joe McKinley, Tony McKinley, Amanda and Doug Gresham, David McKinley, Jason McKinley, and Matthew McKinley; great grandchildren, Daniel Taylor, Duncan McKinley, Sarah Gresham, Timothy Taylor, Breeanne McKinley, Megan Gresham, Caleb McKinley, Anthony Taylor, Ryan Gresham, and Logan Taylor. He is also survived by his son Mark's widow, Wanda Holt, who has continued to be a part of the family.
Charles worked at AT&T for almost thirty-five years. After his retirement in 1985, he enjoyed fishing and traveling the world with his family. Charles especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his birds, flowers, old cars, planes, lighthouses, flying, playing cards and bowling. He loved to tease everyone, especially his wife. Charles loved to laugh and to hear others laugh. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek.
