Charles Manter McFarland
Age 87, was born in Dayton, Ohio, January 11, 1920. He was the son of the late C.B. and L. McFarland, of Dayton. He retired from GE Research and Development Center as a Metallurgist and Liaison Scientist. Charles died March 8, 2007 at his Niskayuna, NY residence. Mr. McFarland was a graduate of the University of Dayton with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a lifetime member of the American Chemical Society and earlier in his career was a Chemical Engineer with the New Jersey Zinc Company, Pennsylvania. He served in WWII in the Navy, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Philippine Liberation, and Japan as Lieutenant JG. Charles was born in Dayton, Ohio and lived most recently on Cape Cod where he enjoyed retirement with his wife Dorothy. Charles and Dorothy were both Master Gardeners and enjoyed a lifetime interest in Orchids and Passiflora. Charles was also a member of the Passiflora Society. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy and their three children Lynn, Cynthia, and Patrice. He is also survived by his four siblings and their families: Don and Mary McFarland of Ohio, Keith and Luella McFarland of California, Betty and Phil Norton of Ohio, Dottie Kuba of Ohio. Charles and Dorothy also have two grandchildren, Jennifer and Brent and one great-grandchild, Celine. There will be no local services. www.NewcomerFamily.com.
